We are always pleased to hear from you in person, by email, phone or post. Our office staff will be pleased to answer most of your questions but will also be able to direct any specific enquiries to the relevant member of staff.
Report an Absence
Please use this link to report an absence.
Alternatively contact the main telephone number and select option 1 which will take you to the student absence voice mail box. State your child’s full name, year group and house and the reason for their absence
Please do not use email to report absences; you should phone school before 9am.
Main Reception
The main telephone number for the School is 0117 353 2800. This will be answered between 8.30am and 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 3.30pm on Friday (there is an answerphone to leave a message outside of these times).
If you wish to contact a member of staff via email, please send your message to office@bedminsterdown.org.uk marked FAO the member of staff and it will be forwarded to the relevant member of staff and we will aim to respond within two school days.
Concerns and Complaints
We are keen to ensure that all students have a positive experience at school. By sharing concerns with us, you help us move forwards with school improvement. If you have a concern, we’d like to hear from you. Please email the school office at office@bedminsterdown.org.uk or call 0117 353 2800 with the details. The most appropriate member of staff will then be in touch to discuss the matter with you.
If you feel that your concerns are not being dealt with effectively, and are considering making a complaint, you can find our Complaints Policy here. Please note that complaints are dealt with informally in the first instance.
Child Protection and Safeguarding
If you have a child protection or safeguarding concern, please feel free to contact Mr D Goater (Designated Safeguarding Lead for Bedminster Down School) email: dgoater@bedminsterdown.org.uk or T: 0117 353 2800 if you have any concerns in relation to students being at risk.
Student Welfare and Pastoral Care
Please refer any issues regarding welfare to your child’s tutor in the first instance. They can be contacted on the main school number T: 0117 353 2800. They will aim to contact you within 48 hours, however, please be aware that tutors are generally full time teachers and are unlikely to be able to call back during the school day.
Student Support Team
Pastoral Support Workers: Should be contacted if working specifically with your child.
Heads of House: Can be contacted if your child’s tutor has been unable to resolve your issue.
SEND and Individual Pupil Support (IPS)
If your query is regarding your child’s special educational needs, then you will need to contact our acting our SENDCo, Miss S Adams 0117 353 2800 or by emailing office@bedminsterdown.org.uk marked FAO: SENDCo
Attendance
For anything attendance related please contact the Attendance Team on T: 0117 353 2800 or attendance@bedminsterdown.org.uk.
Curriculum Issues
In the first instance, with any curriculum/subject concerns or questions, please contact your child’s teacher for that subject on 0117 353 2800. They will aim to respond to you within 48 hours. (Please note: the Pastoral Support Team will be unable to provide you with the appropriate response to a curriculum issue, so please contact your child’s teacher).
More urgent or serious concerns will be escalated by your child’s teacher to the Curriculum Team Leader of Subject Leader for that subject. If you have a complaint regarding a subject or curriculum area, please contact the relevant Curriculum Team Leader of Subject Leader on 0117 353 2800.
Examinations
Please contact the Exams Office for any queries over exams. Our exams officer is Mrs T Harding.
Please ensure that all communication, verbal or written, is appropriate. Your behaviour as a role model to your child is vital in us maintaining a positive relationship with them in school. Please bear this in mind when talking to staff at the School, either on the phone or in person. We will not tolerate aggressive or abusive behaviour or language.
